India team for 3rd and 4th test against Australia
Out-of-form Virender Sehwag has been dropped from India Test squad for the final two Tests against Australia. The selectors on Thursday retained the rest of the 14 players while there was no replacement named for Sehwag.
India lead the four-match series 2-0. The third Test starts from March 14 in Mohali. Fourth and final Test is in Delhi from March 22.
Sehwag has been struggling not only in this series but in the last 9 innings. Since his century against England in Ahmedabad late last year, he has not scored a fifty. In the current series, he has just 27 runs (2, 19, 6) in three innings.
The 34-year-old Delhi batsman was dropped from India One Day International team earlier this year for the home series against England.
Harbhajan Singh has been retained despite being not impressive in the first two Tests and the wait continues for Gautam Gambhir for a comeback.
In Sehwag's absence, India will have a new opener in Mohali. Either Shikhar Dhawan or Ajinkya Rahane will partner Murali Vijay. Both Dhawan and Rahane are yet to play a Test.
India squad: MS Dhoni (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Sachin Tendulkar, Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Pragyan Ojha, Ajinkya Rahane, Harbhajan Singh, R Ashwin, Ashok Dinda.
